A Study on Supporting the Aged

Abstract

|
Since welfare for the aged requires long-term, preventive polices in more parts than welfare policies for other age groups, the study has a goal of investigating, analyzing and evaluating the current condition of supporting the aged. Furthermore, the study tends to be the index of long-term welfare policies for the aged.The investigation on the people’s thought on supporting the aged showed relatively a high result, and the result was especially high in economical supporting but on the other hand, the result in service supporting was not high. The study analyzed people’s thought on supporting the aged by their background. In result, people living in the metropolitan area showed high results in economical, emotional and service supporting than people living in Seoul. Also, the study analyzed the modern idea on supporting the aged with the result of an analysis on difference in economical, emotional and service supporting.The following suggestions can be made based on the results of the study.First, if more in-depth studies on supporting models are presented to improve the life quality of human beings, it will be helpful for both supporters and supporters in practice of desirable supporting.Second, further studies on development educational programs that educate people to respect the aged will be effective in creating desirable measures for emotional support for the aged.
